Erythronium

Erythronium species are native to parts of Asia, Europe and North America. They are generally characterized by bell-shaped flowers and reddish mottling on the leaves. Common names include Dog-Tooth Violet, Trout Lily, Deer-Tongue and Fawn Lily. Flowering is usually in early spring. Erythronium are native to woodlands and prefer moist soil that is high in organic matter. They are wonderful for bulb gardens, perennial gardens, container gardens as well as for naturalizing in woodland and shade gardens
