Cybister and Miniature Amaryllis

Hippeastrum, commonly called Amaryllis, are actually native to South America. Bulb growers in the Netherlands began developing them in the 19th century.

Cybisters are native to dry regions in Bolivia. Their narrow, ribbon like petals are very exotic in appearance. They are often called Spider Amaryllis.

Miniature amaryllis produce smaller flowers, but what they lack in size they more than return in numbers of blossoms. They will not disappoint.

Hippeastrum are easily grown indoors, so they are very popular as gift items during the Christmas season. They can be grown outdoors in USDA climate zones 8 through 11.
