Tiger Flower, native to Mexico and southward, belongs to the genus Tigridia, which means 'like a tiger'. The name was derived from an Aztec word. The tiger in mind was certainly not the Asian tiger, but the jaguar. Tigridia flowers are spotted, usually in the center, with outer colors ranging from cream and yellow to pink and red.

Tigridia adds plenty of color to the garden. You can plant the bulbs in spring directly in the ground or in containers. Mix them amongst other perennials or annuals in free-form groupings.
